Our School - House System
Our school House System exists to enrich the academic and social opportunities for our students. The four Houses have been named after four local explorers. The House system promotes a sense of belonging, encourages student contribution, and includes a range of activities characterised by healthy competition and a strong house spirit. Families are allocated a house when they begin their journey at Bandiana Primary School.
Wills - Yellow
Burke and Wills tragically passed just days apart in June 1861. They were on the return journey of their great expedition to be the first European settlers to cross Australia from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria (South to North), a distance of 3,250 km.
The Hume and Hovell expedition was one of the most important journeys of explorations undertaken in eastern Australia. In 1824 the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Thomas Brisbane, commissioned Hamilton Hume and former Royal Navy Captain William Hovell to lead an expedition to find new grazing land in the south of the colony, and also to find an answer to the mystery of where New South Wales's western rivers flowed.
